Uh oh, ACT?! College?!
If these words inspire fear and dread in your teen, we get it. Test taking for those who are allergic to tests can be a daunting task and become something your teen will avoid at all costs! But don’t worry, we’re here to help.
First, how do you know if your teen is allergic to ACT testing? If you would say YES to any of these statements, this is the prep class for you:
…runs away every time you mention ACT prep or taking the ACT
…inexplicably lost all 3 ACT prep books you purchased for them
…”overslept” on test day
…has test anxiety
…is diagnosed with ADHD, dyslexia, or another learning disability
….is simply terrified of all things ACT
Now that we’ve established that this is the ACT prep class for you… Let’s talk about why we are different in our approach to ACT prep!
At Yellow Wood, we don’t just take practice tests. We don’t just study. Instead, we strengthen the underlying skills needed to rock the ACT, giving your student the confidence that they can tackle this important rite of passage. During our 8 week prep course, your teen will:
Strengthen their reading speed
Strengthen their processing speed and working memory skills
Learn the types of questions they’ll see on the ACT and HOW to tackle them, even if they aren’t sure of the answer
Practice taking the test, what to do when they’re stuck, now to make an educated guess, and how to manage their time on the test
Take a practice test in our safe, judgement free environment, so they will know what to expect on test day
